With 4th of July being done I needed new decor for my mantel. I’ve enjoyed beach inspired decor so decided to try my hand at that theme.
I had fun putting it together. I’ll show you what I did.
On our camping trip a few weeks ago I found lots of fun pieces of drift wood and immediately saw this garland in my mind.
I had a piece of wainscoting left from my Banquette Seating that I thought would look good on my mantel as a piece of DIY wall art. I’ll show your how I made it in a step by step tutorial tomorrow.
Here I took a giant shell added some dirt and some succulents and created an interesting piece of aft for my mantel.
Here is a close up of the shell planted. Isn’t it cute?
I then took one of my apothecary jars and filled it with sand and then added sea shells. I also put some twine around the top of the jar to add a little texture.
I purchased these candlesticks at Goodwill. They were the brass ones and I knew that’s NOT what I wanted so I gave them a quick coat of spray paint. I found theses seashell spheres at Michael s on clearance and knew they would look so cute on the candlesticks, I was able to buy them cheaper than it would be for me to make my own and saved a lot of time.
I’m enjoying my beach inspired mantel. Simple! but meaningful.
Don’t forget to come back tomorrow to see a tutorial on how I made my garland and wall art.

Cute idea to create a garland out of shells.
So pretty…I usually neglect my mantle all year long except for Xmas because I don't know what to do with it…I still haven't been able to conquer the art of decorating the mantle…lol…I will just admire yours instead. Thanks for sharing. btw love that candle holder with the shells and driftwood on the base!
