Hey Crafty people! I am Kathy Joe with an unusual eye to home decor. Home decor helps me bring my creativity out and connect with both myself and the world. I would love it, if you just stopped by my blog.
Bedroom décor is as important as the living room or bathroom, even
though it is not going to be seen by all the guests and family members
who come to visit you. The main reason for making a beautiful bedroom is
a very selfish one: it is for you! A beautiful bedroom can make you
feel good about yourself, boost shattered confidence and soothe tattered
nerves. Do you need any more reasons to spice up your bedroom décor?
Make an immense display of your pillows. Place them on top of the bedding or
create a frame effect by rolling down the blankets or duvet a little.
Have plenty of pillows on the bed, and experiment with having them in
different arrangements to see which appeals to you the most.
Tucked In Smarts, or Casual Drape?
If you are accustomed to having your duvet trail almost to the floor, why not try something different
and tuck it in for a change. This instantly smartens up the room, and can even give the illusion of creating more space in the room. This effect looks particularly good against a neat box frame bed that is in great condition. If you are not keen on the militarily neat look, you can stay with the artlessly draped look which is always elegant and welcoming!
Throws and Cushions
Throws and cushions are constantly coming up in décor advice pieces, because they work like magic to enhance and complement the décor. Throws work with bedding just as they do with living room furniture, picking out accent colours and enhancing the colour scheme.
Add a funky headboard to your room and cover it with an extra sheet or duvet (pinning the excess fabric neatly out of sight) to create an amazingly polished and complete air in the bedroom. If your bed did not come with a headboard, you can buy freestanding headboards that fit easily onto most beds. When I have to opt for funky headboards, I go to We Do Headboards.
Following on from the top about a pillow display, make sure that you have lots of pillows and cushions on the bed. As a rule of the thumb, try to cover the top one-third of the bed with an immense fluffy pile of pillows as this adds comfort and invitation the bed and therefore, to the room. For a potpourri of pillows and cushions, my decision is to always go for Yorkshire Linen Co.
The bed is almost always the focal point of a bedroom, meaning that all eyes fall immediately on it upon entering the room. Play up this natural tendency by investing in some gorgeous and sumptuous bedding. Choose your favourite fabrics, best colour combinations and patterns and designs that appeal to you.
It does not matter how much work you put into the décor of your room, if you do not take care of the lighting! Bedroom lighting needs to be layered so that you can have brightness when you need it for
cleaning and changing the décor and pleasant dimness for getting ready for bed. Install bedside lamps or dimmer switches to enable you to set the level of light depending on your needs at the time.
Add plenty of texture to your décor: lace for femininity, knit effect for warmth and depth and bold colours, stripes and blocks for masculinity. Choose fabrics according to the effect they create and
take your time building the look of your bedroom.
Opt for strong contrasting colours for your bedding sets so that you do not get bored with seeing the same old colour scheme all the time. Some bedding is available in a reversible design, or you can
simply buy sets in colours that appeal to you and that all go with the neutral background colour that you have chosen.
