I wanted to share today some more garden art I made. It’s my Painted Glass Garden Art project. This is a great upcycling project since it’s made from glass pieces bought at thrift stores.
Supplies Needed:
Threaded rod
Coupling nuts
Spray Paint
Glass pieces
E6000 Glue
Glass Paint
I hit the thrift stores on the hunt for some interesting shaped glass pieces. You will need two pieces-a small one and a larger one. Here are the pieces I found.
I painted my first piece with the glass paint and I didn’t like the sheerness of it. So I went to the garage and grabbed my spray paint stash and started spraying my pieces.
Once the paint was dry I embellished my pieces using the glass paint.
Once that was dry I glued the center piece onto the plate with E6000.
Then I took my coupling nut and glued it on the back of my plate.
And screwed in the threaded rod.
NOTE: if you are using a heavier plate buy a thicker threaded rod. They have lots of different sizes.
Here are the pieces I made!
Do you put art in your garden?

Gosh. At the moment my garden looks so boring and colorless. Even though i am a paint nerd but i never stumbled upon such a wonderful idea. I love colors and i love to paint. Damn, its the time to visit the thrift store!!!!
Yeah garden gnomes and statues makes every garden an interesting place to dwindle and relax. Rest assured it could be the best place to stay especially if with water fountain around the area.
Hi
Love your yard art. I wish we had warmer weather to leave it out longer. Is the e6000 glue weather proof water resistant and sun resistant so the art does not fall apart?
Thanks
Cheri
I tried the E6000 glue on the back of the plates with the same materials but the peeled right off
I’m sorry! I used the E6000 with absolutely no problems. What about trying gorilla glue??
I have used gorilla construction glue with great success.
I’m having trouble with the E6000 pulling away from the attachment on the rebar , anything else to hold it to the post ? It’s like it’s too rubbery and the weight eventually pulls it away 🙁
Hmmm…. I haven’t had that issue. I’m sorry you are struggling with it. What about trying gorilla glue?? Or my husband just said try the gorilla crazy glue. I hope that helps.
How long do they hold? I have done the same thing, but use silicone for outdoors. I have some that hold up to a year and others less.
Patty mine have held up a couple years.
This is a good tip especially to those new to the blogosphere.
Simjple but very accurate info… Many thanks for sharing this one.
