I also decide to make a set for my daughter in law Marcy who just delivered my grandson Beckett. My son traced the boys hands and then emailed them to me. They were smaller embroidery hoops so I didn’t have room for the pennant. I think they still look cute.
I was blessed with the opportunity to watch my grand daughters this week while mom and dad were at an “End of Tax Season” party. One of their favorite things to do with G-ma is crafts and I had the perfect one with Mother’s Day coming up.
I couldn’t resist the chance to show them off!
I thought it would be fun to do an updated hand print project and Adriane had the perfect place for them to go in her grey and yellow bathroom.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Fabric- I bought 4 fat quarters- one for the base, one for the hand and two to embellish.
Embroidery hoop in size of your choice
Wonder Under (fusible web)
traced hand 🙂
Trace the child’s hand and cut out.
Iron the Wonder under onto the fabric you chose for the hand.
Trace the hand onto the Wonder Under and cut out.
Take your base fabric and put it in the embroidery hoop, just for placement sake. Take the base fabric back out. You should have some marks where the hoop was. Center your cut out hand and iron onto the base fabric.
Next take your coordinating fabric and iron on the Wonder Under . Cut out a heart and iron it onto the hand.
Next you will iron the Wonder Under unto the coordinating fabrics and cut pennants. Adriane had some scraps left from doing her bathroom and I used those for the pennants to bring in the coordinating fabrics she already used.
I then took my Sharpie and did some pen stitching around the heart and pennants. I added the date and the girls names.
The last step is to put your fabric back into the hoop snugly and then trim around the edges. I didn’t do that on my first one and I had a bear of a time trying to get that back into the hoop.
This gift was under 10.00 and fairly quick and easy and it will be a lifelong memory for all of us.
These boys are super cute too!
Remember, some of the best gifts are inexpensive and quick and easy.
Oh and G-ma’s would LOVE a gift like this!
