Are there ever days you feel like life is a battle? Like you are at the top of a hill and just standing there and you can be sucked down into the hole at any second with just a thought. A thought that can keep you stuck for a while. Sometimes I forget that I don’t have to think that negative thought that I can choose a thought that will turn me away from the hole and walk a different path. I have a CHOICE to make. Will I make the choice to STOP and change where my thoughts are going or will I take the slippery slope to the hole?
When I focus on the good in life it causes me to search for more that’s good! And then as a result I see and appreciate more good and that sets the stage for even more positive circumstances. Eventually, when I do this consistently, I will have more joy, more enthusiasm, and more gratitude. This creates a victory cycle not a vicious cycle.
But what happens when I focus on the negative? When I think negative thoughts it causes me to search for more that’s bad and I miss out on God’s blessings that are right in front of me. For example my husband took me to Mackinac Island to stay at the Grand Hotel. I had never been and was very excited to get the chance to go after all the craziness we had been through with Drew. When we got there it was cold and rainy and my ONE thing is I wanted to be able to set out on the front porch and read a book in one of those white chairs. Well, I was bummed that it was so cold and rainy and my negative thinking got me thinking about all the things I didn’t get to do with rain and cold temps. At that point I had to STOP and write down things I was thankful for. Gratitude always takes our mind off the negative. I was exhausted and the rain allowed Jim and I to sit in the sitting room and read and talk and set goals. The rain allowed much needed rest. I could have missed the blessings God had right in front of me by focusing on the negative.
Here is the sitting room we got to sit in and enjoy!
I get to choose my thoughts. I get to choose what I dwell on. Each moment can be a new beginning, but I have to be consciously aware of what I am thinking and dwelling on.
Tommy Newberry says, “We tend to dwell on either what we fear or on what most excites us. If we don’t consciously think about what we’re thinking about then we are more likely to fall into fear thinking. You may not always be able to control the thoughts that are triggered from your surroundings but you can control what you dwell on!”
What are you dwelling on?
What are you dwelling on?
Today’s Life Lesson Challenge:
1. Think about what you are dwelling on.
2. What are you thankful for right now? What gifts has God given you today?
3. What are something’s you have done well today? (think on the good things you’ve done, not all the places you fall short.
Write these things down.

Do this everyday for a week and you will be amazed at how joy and peace levels rise!
