Today for our life lesson, I’m processing a lesson I’m learning out loud with you. I don’t claim to have the answers and really have more questions than answers but I thought I’d challenge you while I challenge myself.
This past Sunday during a class I was sitting in, the teacher was talking about something I haven’t been taught much about. It is a topic that God has just started teaching me, though. It’s about possessing your land, the land that God has given YOU. Possessing the land is an Old Testament principle. It is a principle that New Testament believers can claim.
Deuteronomy 1:8 says, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them.”
Joshua 1:3 says, I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.

Am I possessing my land or is my land possessing me?
Am I living in the victory that He has given me?
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57
Am I living like:
I am free forever from condemnation
I am assured all works together for good
I am free from any charge against me
I cannot be separated from the love of God
I am established, anointed and sealed by God
I am hidden with Christ in God
I am confident that the good work God had begun in me will be perfected
I am a citizen of Heaven
I have not been given a spirit of fear, but of love power and a sound mind
I can find grace and mercy in time of need
I am born of God; the evil one cannot touch me
When the Israelites crossed over the Jordan into Canaan to possess the land. years after their entrance Joshua said to them, “Why haven’t you fully possessed the land?” They had overrun a portion of the land, but there were numbers of hills and mountains, beautiful valleys and fruitful plains which they had not explored and cultivated. I think that is like some of the church today. We are saved; we cross over into that Promised Land but don’t step into the fullness of what Christ has given us!! We live on the crumbs instead of the banquet table He has provided for us.
So the question becomes what areas of land have we not claimed or possessed yet?
I know there are areas God has called me to that I have not walked into yet. Some of these areas are because I’m just becoming aware of them and some of them are because I’m not being obedient to God and walking into that possession. For us to possess our land requires obedience.
Why am I not obedient? Most of the time it’s plain and simple FEAR! The giants look so big. God and I are working on this and I’m sure you’ll hear more about it.
Like I said earlier I don’t have this figured out and have more questions but I’m going to chew on this and see what God shows me. I am learning we give up a LOT of what is rightfully ours. I hope you’ll chew on this as well.
