We are starting our 3rd week of the Spring Clean your Life Series. I hope you are following along. If not it’s’ not to late to catch up. Today we are going to talk about Spring Cleaning your Spirit? Do you have some cobwebs growing in your spirit? If so, let’s get some dusting and vacuuming done.
Right now if you had to evaluate how you are healthy you are spiritually on a scale of 1-10 where would you rate yourself? Do you feel like you are growing spiritually? Or stuck? You are either growing or dying, there is no stagnant stage.
Here are some questions that will help you evaluate where you are right now. Awareness is half the battle.
I don’t know about you but I can pick up a bad attitude pretty easy. Am I in tune with what my attitude even is?
-
Am I ungrateful and complaining a lot?
Start a gratitude journal. Write down 3 unique things you are grateful for every day.
-
Am I harboring bitterness & unforgiveness?
Nothing keeps you stuck like unforgiveness. Forgiveness is such a tricky thing. It feels like you are letting the other person off the hook but you are really setting yourself FREE when you forgive someone. Rake those dead weeds and plant some spring flowers.
-
Are you stuck in the past?
If your focus is on how things were back then? If you are always thinking about the good ole’ days and not looking forward to the future I would say you are living in the past. You aren’t there anymore. Leave the past behind and look forward. Set new goals and dreams.
-
What’s the motive for why you are doing_________________?
Examine your motives? Why are you on 15 committees? Is it because God is calling you to be on 15 committees or are you trying to earn your approval and worth from what you are doing? Why did you take that new mom a dinner? Because she really needed the help or you were trying to impress her with your wonder woman behavior. It’s important to check your motives from time to time.
throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
-
Are you living fully alive in your passions and gifts God has given you?
Why or why not? It’s so easy to live on autopilot, going through the motions of life. If we have issues and we don’t deal with them then we will live on autopilot and will have a bad attitude taking it out on others all around us. I’ve wasted so much of myself, I don’t want you to do that.
-
Are you renewing your spirit by taking the time to spend time with Him?
When I go for days without spending time with Him it’s not pretty! My spirit is like a dry, parched garden. I’m disillusioned with my life. I have to have that time with Him daily. Make the time, it will benefit you in tremendous ways.
Take some time and look over this list and be HONEST with yourself on where you really are and then ask God what changes you should make. He will graciously show you.
