How did you do in January on your goals?? If you’re at all like me, you ’re a little behind? But you know what that’s OK! We’re going to get up, dust ourselves off and keep going. We will not give up on ourselves in the first month. We are going to be managing your monthly goals by doing a goal check-in.
Even if it feels like we’re walking through quicksand, we’re going to keep moving!
So how do we get back on track??
1. Take some quiet time for yourself and reassess your goals.
Turn your phone off and pull away for an hour or two. Get your goals and dreams list out and choose ONE thing to focus on. Choosing one thing is hard for me to do because I want to change everything all at once. Doing that though sets me up for failure and I get overwhelmed and then nothing gets done. I sit and spin. Am I alone in this??
2. Remind yourself WHY you want to accomplish this goal.
Review WHY you want to accomplish this goal? I guarantee you without the “why” you will not have the follow thru.
3. Break down your one area of focus.
What is the one area you want to focus on? Take that one thing and break it down into steps. For example:
My #1 goal for Second Chance to Dream is to create a vision board workshop and host it at my house. Then create a vision board kit I can sell on my blog. Shoot! There I go, setting 2 areas of focus. It’s hard to focus on just one- I know!
So let’s break down hosting a vision board workshop.
What do I need to do to host a vision board workshop?
- Set a date
- Create a flyer
- Get the word out- where can I let people know I will host a workshop?
- Create a supply list
- Where will I set up in my house? Do I need anything special to do that?
- What snacks will I serve?
- Purchase the supplies, snacks, and anything I need for that day.
- Make copies of things used that day.
When I break things down and write it out, I can clearly see what needs to be done. Make sure you write it out. Writing it down gets it out of your head so it’s not constantly swirling around your mind weighing you down.
To help you do this, I created a couple printables that helps you take the one thing you are focusing on and break it down into steps.
You can download either or both at this link: Goal Breakdown Printables
I hope you benefited from Managing your Monthly Goals today and that you CRUSH it next month!
