I have a fun DIY State Wall Art project that I’d like to share with you today.
I purchased a MDF cut out of the State of Michigan from Pick your Plum. If you’re not familiar with Pick your Plum it’s a daily deal site that has lots of fun products for cheap. You can check it out on my right hand side bar. Scroll down the page until you see the Pick Your Plum ad. Anyway, this deal came up and I new it would make some fun wall art. I’ll show you had I did it.
Supplies you will need:
Frame
Spray paint for frame, if needed- I used a marigold color
Spray paint for state- I used lagoon blue
2 colors of spray paint for the backing- I used grey and white
Hot glue gun
small piece of red vinyl
To begin I spray painted the state with a blue paint and let that dry.
I purchased a thin piece of wall board from Menard’s and had my husband cut it into a 16 x 20 size to fit a frame I had. I spray painted the board white. Not pictured: I spray painted the frame marigold.
I took my chevron Frog Tape and taped off stripes onto my white board.
I then spray painted the whole board grey
After the paint was dry I peeled off the tape, to reveal my white stripes. I hot glued the state onto my completed chevron board and cut a red heart out of vinyl at placed it one our home town of Traverse City. I placed it into my painted frame.
And here is my new completed DIY State Wall Art project! I love it!! I hung it by my front door which had a big empty space and needed a touch of color. It goes really well with my new grey and yellow living room.

Here is another piece of DIY Art. I know it’s not Christmas but you could use this idea with things other than snowflakes. You can find it here.
